Nephrotic Syndrome — kidney disease characterized by massive proteinuria, causing edema (puffy face, swollen legs), fatigue, and difficulty urinating. Confirmed via kidney biopsy at Siriraj Hospital.

Treatment Plan

  • Immunosuppressant medication
  • Prolonged corticosteroid therapy
  • Strict salt-free nephrotic diet
  • Careful fluid intake monitoring
  • Regular nephrologist follow-ups
  • Kidney biopsy (November 2021)

Medical Journey

Early 2021: Parents noticed concerning symptoms and brought Duo to the Thailand border seeking medical help, arriving at Bamboo School Orphanage where Momo Cat facilitated his care.

February 2021: Rushed to Saiyok Hospital, then transferred to Pahol Hospital in Kanchanaburi, and eventually referred to Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok for specialist diagnosis and treatment planning.

November 2021: Underwent kidney biopsy; began immunosuppressant treatment with strict nephrotic diet requirements and frequent professional monitoring under Dr. Mowae's supervision.

February 2022: BWCCF visited Bamboo School; Duo showed significant progress with fluid accumulation resolved, living normally for his age. Future possibility of kidney transplant remains.

May 2022: Residing at Bamboo School; follows salt-free diet with supervised nutrition; fluid intake carefully monitored. Unable to return to Myanmar due to hospital proximity needs.

August 2022: Condition remained stable on prolonged corticosteroid medication. Parents attempted to retrieve him but couldn't return due to military conflict. Continues requiring nephrologist follow-ups.
